KENDALL WILKINSON
“Every piece of furniture has a story to tell. Revitalizing furniture breathes new life into old pieces and is a metaphor for starting a new chapter.”
Wingback Whimsy | Before & After
Esteemed San Francisco interior designer Kendall Wilkinson appreciates the concept of heritage. The daughter of an interior designer, she continued a family tradition by founding her own firm, Kendall Wilkinson Interiors. Over thirty years later, her studio has established its own legacy of exceptional private residences and commercial spaces throughout the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, Southern California, Hawaii, the Rockies, and the East Coast.
Known for bold, individualist interiors that marry traditional and modern, Wilkinson brought that sensibility to the design of her chair. She selected a classic wingback but chose the playful print and saturated hues of Schumacher’s Rolling Hills in Blue and Rocky Performance Velvet in vibrant pink Cameo. “The fabric adds a bold, quirky aesthetic to the chair and embraces whimsy,” says Wilkinson.
As she notes, it is a singular refurbishment that can stand strong alone and yet is versatile enough to anchor any space. “While holding on to good bones, you can blend the old with the new, prevent waste, and preserve heritage,” says Wilkinson. “Every revitalized piece adds character to a space, supports the local economy and its artisans, and fosters a sense of community.”
