VEERE GRENNEY

“There is a great feeling of satisfaction when you can make a piece of furniture which, in its new incarnation, is not quite what it seems!”

Veere Grenney has been at the forefront of the international interior design industry for over thirty years. He trained under pioneering designer Mary Fox Linton, and later was a director at Sibyl Colefax and John Fowler before launching his own company in London. His firm’s projects range from English country estates and London townhouses to private residences in the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean.

“Veere Grenney is a master of contrasts marrying the humble with the grand and clean modernity with classicism,” notes Schumacher Creative Director Dara Caponigro. Grenney selected a vintage art deco-style piece, envisioning it in a deep ebonized finish and upholstered in his Schumacher linen Temple fabric in Lilac. “Temple is modelled after the Greek key,” says Grenney, adding, “I feel with black furniture, lilac is a perfect complementary color.”

A virtuoso of breathing new life into historic places and pieces, Grenney notes, “All my professional life I have revitalized period furniture, both antique and vintage. It is a wonderful opportunity to create a new, original piece.”
