10 Perfect Indoor/Outdoor Fabrics For Summer
Gone are the days of stiff, scratchy and uninspiring (think awning stripes) outdoor fabrics. Thanks to advances in textile technology and treatments, the new generation of outdoor fabrics are so chic, durable and comfortable that they’re appearing indoors as much as outdoors. In fact, the textile industry has re-branded this class of fabrics as “indoor/outdoor”. The selection of beautiful and sophisticated patterns is steadily growing; we’re thrilled to see some of our favorite fabric designers creating indoor/outdoor lines. A whole new world of stylish possibilities are available to homes with young children and pets or heavy-use pieces (e.g. dining chairs). Read on to see ten of our current favorite fabrics for both indoor and outdoor use.

2. 'Ink Blot' in White Sands, by Perennials
Perennials is known for their first class indoor/outdoor fabric selection. We love the subtle yet bold texture of 'Ink Blot' - and we especially love a white fabric that can stand the test of kids and pets indoors.
3. 'Bukhara' in Blue, by Peter Dunham Textiles
'Bukhara' is always a fan favorite, and the blue colorway is one of our team's most beloved selections. Peter Dunham's outdoor version of this pattern is treated with Teflon, allowing for water and soil resistance. Perfection!
4. 'Zebras' in Masai Red, by Scalamandre
'Zebras' from Scalamandre is a true classic: used in many of the world's swankiest hotels and lounges, this pattern instantly adds an elevated yet whimsical element to any space. With the addition of an indoor/outdoor version, you can expect to see even more fabulous uses of this print.
5. 'Citrus Garden' in Primary, from Schumacher
We adore this archival printed pattern from Schumacher. Originally created in 1947 by design legend Josef Frank, this delicately hand-drawn print adds a touch of whimsy and charm to any space. Now that its indoor and outdoor, it may be one of the most versatile fabrics around.
6. 'Deconstructed Stripe II' in Cobalt, by Miles Redd for Schumacher
'Deconstructed Stripe II' is quintessential Miles Redd: one part preppy, one part daring, and 100% unique. We love this pattern for its ability to both complement another print or color, and also for its ability to be center stage.
7. 'Lahar' in Navy, by Rosemary Hallgarten
Rosemary Hallgarten created this ombre fabric with a similar effect that she uses on her well-known ombre rugs. Lahar is perfectly textural, and its ombre effect is both bold and soft.

No indoor/outdoor fabric list is complete without acknowledging Peter Dunham's iconic 'Fig Leaf.'
