Lacquering a Fretwork Dresser 

 

For Dina Bandman’s ‘Lemondrop Lullaby’ nursery at the 2018 San Francisco Decorator Showcase, we simplified the appearance of this ornate fret-work dresser. Learn more about the project here.

We removed some of the ornate fretwork on the dresser drawer faces to simplify the design. We lacquered the dresser in a very pale grey custom color pulled from the De Gournay wallpaper. For added depth, a faux striation was created on the whole piece. The original hardware was replaced with custom brass escutcheons with lemon yellow tassels.
